This morning I got up and checked my email and opening up my Mercola.com newsletter and read an article called “The 20 Facts About Death You Need to Know.” There were a couple of interesting things.

One fact of particular interest to readers of this newsletter is that 80 percent of people in the United States die in a hospital.

Fast forward to this morning around 9:30. Danielle’s husband is a Goose Greek police officer and he responded to a call early this morning that turned out to be a fatality.

A woman had gone into a hospital with a migraine headache and was given an injection. Her husband reached over for her at 4 AM and she was cold. Now whether this death was from the medical intervention is impossible for us to know at this point, but the fact is that the equivalent of the # of people that die from medical intervention is the same as 3 jumbo jets crashing every day. This is our leading cause of death in the US.

The first thought I had after hearing this story was that she most likely did die from a reaction to the medication and the second thought was to wonder if anyone had ever recommended that she try a chiropractor. About 90% of our patients who follow through with care experience complete relief from their migraines. What if this woman had corrected her spine instead taking drugs and getting shots? She would be alive today.

So many times people end up in my office after they have already been put on a myriad of drugs and been through surgeries. Spinal fusion, gall bladder removal, hysterectomy…the list goes on and on. Sometimes, it’s amazing that they made it in at all because the attitude might be “If everything medicine has to offer can’t help me then I know chiropractic can’t.” It can and usually does. Shouldn’t the safest, least invasive, and most effective thing be used first – not last?

We have the power to save lives just by telling people about chiropractic! They might not listen or act on what we tell them, but if we keep spreading the word we can get more and more people to the chiropractor first, not last – and transform and save lives in the process!
