Detox
Detox, short for detoxification, is the removal of potentially toxic substances from the body. Although detox is primarily thought of as a treatment for alcohol or drug dependence, the term is also used to
refer to diets, herbs, and other methods of removing environmental and dietary toxins from the body for general health. Detoxification protocols often are done incorrectely, unsafely and many programs do nothing at all.
Since your body is only as healthy as your cells, true detox must occur at the cellular level. Our focus in this office is always on removing anything interfering with the body innate ability to function and heal at 100%. Since all function and healing ultimately come from the nervous system, we focus our detoxification programs primarily on neurotoxicity.
Just as spinal problems create physical interference to the nervous sytem, neurotoxins cause chemical interference at the level of the cells and the brain, creating widespread problems with hormone regulation and inflammation. The two most common and problematic categories of toxins are biotoxins (mold, lyme) and heavy metals (mercury, lead).
